Inspired by Nature, Painted by Hand
I've always been fascinated by colour, pattern, and the small details found in nature. The shape of a petal, sea-worn textures, tangled hedgerows, and shifting light across the landscape. These are the things that find their way into my sketchbooks and, eventually, into my designs.
Every collection begins with paint, paper, and a brush, each design created by hand, one brushstroke at a time. I love the process of watching a design evolve from a loose watercolour painting into a finished repeat, product, or collection.
Over the years, I've worked with brands, retailers, and creative teams to bring ideas to life, combining artistic creativity with strong technical expertise in repeat pattern design, engineered layouts, collection development, trend research, and creative direction.
Blómandi is an Old Icelandic word meaning "the blooming one", a name that reflects both my love of florals and my belief that creativity grows best when given time, care, and space to flourish.
